The Children’s Center of Hamden (TCCH) is seeking a results‑driven Vice President of Resource Development to lead our philanthropic initiatives. As a cornerstone of the Greater New Haven community for over 190 years, TCCH provides a comprehensive continuum of behavioral health, psychiatric, and special education services for children and teens facing trauma and crisis.
The Vice President will be responsible for designing and executing a multi‑faceted development strategy focused on donor acquisition, major gifts, and foundation relations. This role is pivotal as we expand our innovative continuum of care to address the evolving mental health needs of youth in the Greater New Haven region. The Vice President will work in close partnership with the CEO, the Chief Medical Officer, and the Vice President of Educational Services to align funding opportunities with the growth of clinical and educational programs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement an annual comprehensive resource development plan to meet organizational revenue goals.
- Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of individual major donors.
- Oversee the planning and execution of high‑impact fundraising events and digital giving campaigns.
- Research and identify new private, corporate, government, and family foundation prospects whose missions align with trauma‑informed care and youth behavioral health.
- Oversee grants management.
- Serve as a primary liaison to the Board of Directors’ Development Committee, providing regular reports on progress toward goals.
- Manage the development database (Salesforce for Nonprofits) to ensure accurate gift processing, acknowledgments, and data‑driven decision‑making.
- Analyze fundraising trends and donor behavior to optimize future outreach efforts.
- 5‑7 years of professional fundraising experience, with a proven track record in major gift and grant acquisition.
- Experience with Salesforce for Nonprofits (highly preferred) or similar CRM; expertise in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of trauma‑informed care, behavioral health, and the associated philanthropic landscape.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to tell a compelling story of impact.
