The Director of Middlesex and Veteran Services serves as a critical member of Columbus House’s Program Management Team. In collaboration with the CPO, the Director of Middlesex and Veteran Services will oversee the portfolio of programs and related services specific to:
Supportive Services for Veterans and Families; MMW Shelter and Outreach; MMW SOAR; and Harkness House. The Director also evaluates the effectiveness of programs to provide ongoing feedback; provides mentoring, guidance, supervision, and professional development to supervises; and enhances the structure of the organization by staying abreast of developments in the homeless assistance sector.

• Bachelor’s Degree required and a minimum of five years relevant work experience in a social service, mental health, or substance abuse agency.
• Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, teach/mentor and supervise managers and/or direct service staff.
• Passion for mission and purpose-driven organization and an ability to communicate this passion to others, particularly employees.
• Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered-Planning, Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed and Gender Specific Care and Housing First philosophies and models.
• Must be intimately familiar with and possess a comprehensive working knowledge of all aspects of employment, employment resources, entitlement programs, vocational and career development programs and all related activities that lead to earning income.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of all aspects of the delivery of trauma-informed case management and crisis intervention services for the homeless population as well as knowledge of the mental health, substance abuse and related treatment networks, local housing options and relevant vocational/entitlement programs
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and compile complex data for planning and reporting purposes.
• Computer and data management literate
• Strong relationship builder with the ability to find common ground, build consensus and strengthen collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
• Familiarity with policies and procedures around cultural competency and confidentiality
• Best practice knowledge specific to Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction strategies and Housing First
• Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, inclusiveness and empowerment and emotional intelligence.
• Valid drivers’ license with a good driving history and daily access to an automobile
