- Clinical Care: Provide assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs across the disease process as part of an interdisciplinary team. Practice settings may include inpatient, ambulatory, or outpatient. Collaborate with supervising physicians and follow state laws, hospital policies, protocols, and clinical pathways; may provide autonomous team-based care. Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, review orders and results, and formulate management plans.
May perform procedures, prescribe treatments and medications per guidelines. May function as first or second assistant on operative cases within scope and prerequisites. Other duties as required by department and hospital needs. - Patient Education & Psychosocial Support: Educate patients/families on care, treatment plans, and discharge planning. Provide psychosocial support as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Information Management: Ensure documentation complies with hospital and regulatory requirements and protect information across media from unauthorized access or disclosure.
- Quality Management: Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and ethics; ensure compliance with patient-related regulatory requirements and standards.
- Professional Development: Engage in projects to maintain and advance competency; may serve as a clinical resource or preceptor; participate in research, quality assurance, and performance improvement projects; maintain hospital-required credentials.
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Clinical working experience in the given specialty/service line is preferred but not required. APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be appointed to the affiliated medical staff and credentialed.
- Evidence of current competence to practice with appropriate references usable during the medical staff appointment process.
- Licenses/
Certifications:- Active PA Certification by NCCPA and/or Connecticut State PA License, or Connecticut State RN License and/or Nurse Practitioner license.
- ACLS/BLS certified.
- DEA license when indicated; pediatric PALS/NRP as applicable.
- Additional licensure or continuing education may be required based on position and specialty.
