Travel RN - Psychiatric

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Geriatric Psychiatric unit at a small community hospital in Connecticut, requiring a CT or Compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of psych experience.

• Active CT RN license or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA only) required
• Crisis Management Training (CMT) certification required — administered by CPI or Northwell; other in-person CMT courses of a minimum of 6 hours may be considered with certificate provided for review
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience required
• 5 or more years of experience preferred
• Experience with geriatric and dementia patient populations strongly preferred
• Med/surg nursing background is helpful
• Two professional references rated 'standard or above average' from a manager or above within the prior year in the current specialty are required for consideration

• 78-bed general community hospital setting
• Geriatric adult psychiatric unit with patients presenting with dementia, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder, often with multiple medical comorbidities
• Patients are frequently total care, requiring a well‑rounded nursing skill set
• Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required, with possible holiday coverage
• Procedures and responsibilities include facilitating therapeutic groups, managing voluntary and involuntary patient status, medical psych care, and use of restraints and seclusion
• Responsibilities include facilitating therapeutic groups and providing care for medically complex psychiatric patients, including those on involuntary hold and those requiring restraints or seclusion
• Candidates who have previously worked at any Northwell or Nuvance Health location may be subject to an eligibility review process before being considered for the assignment
• Local candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are accepted, though at a reduced rate
