Summary
The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care guided by the American Nurses Association scope of practice. The role collaborates with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to deliver healthcare services, assess patient needs, implement and evaluate care plans, and adhere to hospital policies and standards. The Registered Nurse demonstrates leadership skills and a commitment to professional accountability and growth.
ScheduleWork shift:
7:00 am – 7:30 pm as needed; weekend and holiday requirements may vary. Status:
Per Diem.
- Completes patient assessment and reassessment; documents a detailed plan of care with interventions and outcomes.
- Ensures appropriate documentation, including transfer and discharge records, consistent with the level of care.
- Follows the five Rights of Medication Administration, verbalizes medication details, assesses patients prior to administration, and documents responses.
- Coordinates and supervises nursing care, delegating tasks with accountability for delegated care.
- Promotes a culture of safety by assessing risks, adhering to policies, and initiating identified interventions.
- Conducts bedside shift reports and rounds with peers at change of shift and ensures proper hand‑offs during breaks.
- Demonstrates quality through responsible, accountable, and ethical documentation of the nursing process.
- Assesses learning needs of patients and families; plans and provides instruction, documenting responses.
- Provides care to specific patient populations as required.
- Delivers patient‑centered care, respecting cultural diversity and maintaining dignity.
- Meets accreditation, regulatory, and compliance responsibilities.
- Encourages learning and growth by seeking formal and independent learning activities, mentoring others, and staying current in clinical knowledge.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the state nursing scope of practice.
- State of Connecticut RN license.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum one year of RN experience.
- American Nurses Association endorsed certifications or Academy of Medical‑Surgical Nurses certification preferred.
Associate's level DGR (or equivalent).
Working Conditions- Manual: significant manual skill, motor coordination, and finger dexterity.
- Occupational: some occupational risk.
- Physical effort: medium to heavy effort; may exert up to 35 lbs of force.
- Physical environment: exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste.
