Responsibilities
Howmet Aerospace is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Inspectors / FPI Trainees at our Winsted, CT facility. Whether you have previous inspection experience or are looking to build a career in quality and aerospace manufacturing, this is an excellent opportunity to learn, grow, and make an impact.
As an Inspector/FPI Trainee, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of precision aerospace components. Your attention to detail helps ensure only products meeting the highest quality standards reach our customers.
- Perform receiving, in-process, and final visual inspections on aerospace components.
- Verify materials and parts match work orders and engineering specifications.
- Inspect incoming shipments and confirm accuracy against purchase orders and documentation.
- Use precision measuring tools and visual inspection techniques to verify product quality.
- Identify non-conforming materials and communicate findings to appropriate personnel.
- Complete inspection reports, quality records, and production documentation accurately.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve quality concerns.
- Support continuous improvement, safety, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Starting Pay: $20.00/hour
- Shift Differentials:
- 2nd Shift: +$2.00/hour
- 3rd Shift: +$3.00/hour
- Training may be completed on 1st Shift for several months, if needed.
- $3,000 Sign-On Bonus for eligible external hires

- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Basic math skills and attention to detail.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges is preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Minimum of one year of related manufacturing or inspection experience preferred.
- Aerospace inspection experience is a plus but not required.
- Candidates interested in learning Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) are encouraged to apply.
This position requires access to export-controlled information. Employment is contingent upon the ability to lawfully obtain access to such information.
