Bachelor Or Master Thesis In The Field Of Heterogeneous Catalysis

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft () is one of the world's leading organizations for applied research. 74 institutes develop groundbreaking technologies for our economy and society – specifically: 30,000 people from technology, science, administration, and IT. They know: those who come to Fraunhofer want and can make a difference. For themselves, for us, and for the markets of today and tomorrow. WE RESEARCH FOR A HEALTHY WORLD – AND OFFER DIVERSE OPPORTUNITIES.

CHANGE STARTS WITH US. At the Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Chemistry and Bioprocess Engineering IGB, we combine biology and technology for health, nutrition, sustainable chemistry, the environment, and climate protection. We develop processes, technologies, and products for patient-oriented health care, a sustainable bioeconomy, as well as a climate-neutral and resource-efficient circular economy and bring new solutions successfully into industrial implementation.

We research at the locations Stuttgart, Biberach, Leuna, and Straubing and in close connection with numerous universities and research institutions in Germany and abroad. Here you will make a difference.

Your role includes the preparation, characterization, and testing of heterogeneous catalysts for ammonia synthesis. Applying reaction engineering principles, you will evaluate the performance of heterogeneous catalysts in both batch and continuous reactors. Analytical techniques such as GC, HPLC, and NMR will enable you to assess the experimental results. You will prepare your results scientifically and present them.

What we offer you

  • Cutting-edge research in a wide variety of pioneering projects that advance society and the economy – and you yourself
  • A varied, creative, and interdisciplinary working environment in a friendly team, with the assurance that your colleagues are always there to support you
  • Support from scientists who work on industrial projects and collaboration with a group of students from around the world
  • State-of-the-art equipment
  • The opportunity to contribute your ideas as part of a strong team and to participate in solving pressing future issues
  • A canteen on campus with daily food offerings

We value and promote the diversity of our employees' skills and therefore welcome all applications – regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion, beliefs, disability, as well as sexual orientation and identity. Disabled persons are given preference in case of equal suitability. Our tasks are diverse and adaptable – for applicants with disabilities, we find solutions together that optimally promote their abilities.

The same applies if they cannot fulfill all profile requirements due to a disability.

For the creation of the master thesis, no remuneration is paid. However, we offer comprehensive support and supervision. In addition, there is the possibility of concluding a contract as a scientific assistant. The remuneration is based on the collective agreement for the employment of auxiliary staff. The position is part-time.

With its focus on future-relevant key technologies and on the commercialization of the results in industry, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft plays a central role in the innovation process. As a guide and catalyst for innovative developments and scientific excellence, it contributes to shaping our society and our future.

Ready for change? Then apply now and make a difference! After receiving your online application, you will receive an automatic confirmation of receipt. Then we will get back to you as soon as possible and tell you what happens next.
