Position SummaryThe Chemist I is responsible for accurate formulation and analytical testing in accordance with LATICRETE, ANSI, and ASTM procedures. The role involves designing and conducting complex chemical studies, using independent judgment to report and analyze data, and supporting product development and scale‑up.
Responsibilities Design, Develop and Validate – (75%)- Conduct experiments to solve increasingly complex problems and review competitive testing.
- Maintain a clean laboratory environment and properly functioning equipment.
- Perform periodic calibration and validation of instruments per laboratory procedures.
- Comply with all laboratory, company, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Support Technical Services in evaluating field complaints and product inconsistencies.
- Communicate results within R&D and cross‑functional departments.
- Organize and participate in field trials.
- Interact with end‑use customers and contractors to understand product usage and needs.
- Assist in production scale‑up by writing batching formulas and tracking commercialization.
- Determine Quality Control parameters for product testing.
- Document all work via approved methods and provide occasional technical presentations.
- Process, analyze, and interpret results independently.
- Summarize ongoing work and findings during department meetings.
- Continuously document work according to standard practice and compile formal end reports.
- BA/BS in a Physical Science required;
Chemistry preferred. MS in a related field is a plus. - Experience in a scientific laboratory (a plus).
- Knowledge of DOE and statistical methods.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and systematic documentation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for reporting and presentations.
- Self‑starter capable of multitasking.
- Familiarity with patent research, invention disclosures, and industry publications.
- Ability to analyze data independently and apply specialized knowledge.
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation calibration and validation.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of specialty software systems as required.
- Lifting: 50 lbs.
