The Analytical Chemist supports research, development, and production activities by performing analytical testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished materials using a wide range of analytical techniques. This role ensures the generation of accurate, reliable data, maintains laboratory equipment, assists with troubleshooting, and contributes to efficient daily lab operations. Working collaboratively within a teambased environment, the analyst helps drive projects forward through precise analytical work and effective communication.
The work spans reaction monitoring and in-process control, purity and impurity profiling, identification of unknowns and degradants, and characterization of intermediate and isolated products. Turnaround time is critical; ambiguity is common and the ability to interpret a result is what makes the role valuable.
- Perform routine and non-routine analysis, including but not limited to, NMR, HPLC, GC, LC-MS, UV-Vis, Karl Fischer.
- Support route scouting, process optimization, and scale-up campaigns with timely in-process control (IPC) data, reaction profiling, and conversion/selectivity assessments.
- Support kinetic studies, DoE work, and process safety evaluations with the characterization data they depend on.
- Produce reliable and precise data in support of projects.
- Document and communicate test results in a timely manner.
- Assist in troubleshooting procedures and laboratory instrumentation as needed.
- Maintain laboratory analytical equipment to ensure equipment and methods are in place to support projects.
- Provide operations support to enable the laboratory to function effectively.
- Assist team members to accomplish project objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher with a solid scientific background that includes laboratory coursework.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience working in a laboratory environment, laboratory and analytical skills.
- Computer skills proficiency and ability to learn new software.
- Organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with chromatography, spectroscopy, and/or other analytical techniques.
- Experience with Chromatography Data Systems.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with technical staff at all levels in a team-based environment.
- Integrity, excellent team working skills and commitment to deliver high-quality science.
