Salary Range: $79,134.00-$ Yearly. Individuals new to state service start at the minimum of the pay plan.
UConn’s Facilities Operations Department has a job opening for a Maintenance Supervisor 2 – Utilities position within the Public Works Shop. This is a permanent, full-time, 1st shift position, with a work schedule of Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m.
- 3:00 p.m., 37.5 hours per week with an unpaid half an hour for lunch. The hourly salary is $40.43/hour and is non-negotiable for those new to State Employment; the hourly rate of pay for current NP-2 employees is calculated based on current salary/step.
This position is categorized as Emergency Support Services/Essential Staff. Must be willing to work during emergency closures/delayed openings due to inclement weather or for significant events that affect campus operations. Applicants must also be willing to respond to emergencies on overtime (nights, weekends, holidays and weather/storm related events).
Please note that Facilities Operations NP-2 employees may also be required to perform job duties as assigned at any of the Regional Campuses.
Additionally, this position may require participation in the Weekly On-Call Rotation Schedule; when assigned to the on-call rotation, the assigned cell phone must be carried, and calls must be responded to during the on-call assignment within 15 minutes.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIESAt UConn, the MS2 - Utilities position is responsible for leading and supervising highly skilled trades workers and apprentices in the repair and maintenance of all above and underground utilities, which includes, but is not limited to steam, condensate, water, sewage, storm, reclaim water and chilled water. The MS2 – Utilities position is also responsible for supervising highly skilled trades workers and apprentices in performing sitework related tasks which includes, but is not limited to, paving, grading, excavation, rebuilding and cleaning of catch basins, repair, removal and installation of sidewalks.
- Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff;
- Provides staff training and assistance;
- Conducts performance evaluations;
- Determines priorities and plans crew work;
- Establishes or maintains crew procedures;
- Develops or makes recommendations on the development of policies and standards;
- Acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures;
- Prepares reports and correspondence;
- Performs some of the more skilled duties involved;
- May make plans and cost estimates of work to be done;
- Performs related duties as required.
- Considerable knowledge of relevant state and national codes and regulations;
- modern methods and equipment involved in the trade indicated by the parenthetical of the class;

Six (6) years of experience in the trade area indicated by the parenthetical title.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCEThree (3) years of the General Experience must have included performing highly skilled duties in the trade area indicated by the parenthetical title.
