Review plans, specifications, circuit drawings and onsite conditions to determine the safest and most efficient means to install electrical wiring and equipment with electrical codes, standards and regulations. Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical wiring, conduit, equipment and other apparatus using power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment. Make electrical connection to circuit breakers, switch gear, ground leads, plugs, equipment and other devices.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Identify hazards, defects or malfunctioning equipment and adjust, or repair to ensure compliance with all applicable codes.
- Maintain current electrical license and complete all electrical connection in strict accordance with all applicable state & local codes
- Follow company policy and procedures and enforce safety regulations
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints and circuit drawings to determine the proper location of electrical equipment and to insure conformance to electrical and safety codes
- Plan sequence of installation and adjust as needed to meet the construction schedule using knowledge of equipment to avoid obstruction and activities of other construction workers
- Inspect work in progress and test electrical systems to ensure compatibility and safety of the system
- Maintain accurate time and material records
- Cut, thread, bend and assemble PVC, copper, black iron, ductile iron or other materials using hacksaw, pipe‑cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine
- Perform physically demanding work while working from ladders, scaffolds or on roofs
- Repair and maintain electric motors, control centers and circuit controls
- Work harmoniously, cooperatively and courteously with others at all times
- Be willing to respond to emergency situations after hours or occasionally work out of town
- Performs miscellaneous other duties and responsibilities as required
- May supervise others, Electricians and Apprentices
- High school diploma and additional specialized training required for licensing
- Requires Journeyman Electrical license in Connecticut
- Licensed in Massachusetts a plus
- Ability to read and write English
