To lead a dynamic, inclusive, and student-centered Track & Field program that fosters athletic excellence, teamwork, and personal growth. The Head Coach will inspire student-athletes to achieve their highest potential—physically, academically, and personally—while upholding E.O. Smith High School’s core values and Vision of the Graduate.
Qualifications- Prior successful experience as a Track & Field coach at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of training methods, event‑specific techniques, and overall program development.
- Connecticut Coaching Certification (or eligibility) required.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and Concussion Management certifications required.
- Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive, equitable, and supportive environment for all student‑athletes.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Provide overall leadership, direction, and supervision for the Indoor and/or Outdoor Track & Field program.
- Design and implement training plans that develop athletic performance, skill, conditioning, and injury prevention.
- Build a positive, team‑oriented culture emphasizing sportsmanship, respect, and integrity.
- Collaborate with assistant coaches to oversee all track and field events, ensuring comprehensive development of all athletes.
- Promote academic success and personal growth among team members.
- Communicate effectively with student‑athletes, parents, faculty, and the athletic department.
- Coordinate with the Athletic Director on scheduling, equipment, facility use, and program logistics.
- Ensure compliance with CIAC, league, and school regulations and uphold safety standards.
- Experience coaching multiple track and field disciplines (sprints, distance, throws, jumps, relays).
- Proven ability to mentor and motivate student‑athletes with varying levels of experience and ability.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and program improvement.
- Desire to strengthen school spirit and community engagement through athletics.
$8,500 – Paid in two installments at the beginning of the season and at the end of the season.
