Overview
FULL TIME and PART-TIME NON-CDL (Micro Transit and ADA Paratransit Service) BUS OPERATOR for SEAT (Southeast Area Transit District).
The District is the region's public transportation provider with a strong public service ethic. We are looking for a dependable, safety-focused and hard-working individual who enjoys making a difference, a quick learner who can take the initiative and someone who enjoys being part of a small team that takes pride in their service to the community and provides excellent customer service with regular attendance.
Responsibilities- Operate small "cut-a-way" transit buses and wheelchair lifts/ramps.
- For passengers with disabilities: assist with securing wheelchairs, boarding and exiting, and provide guidance as needed.
- Collect fares, verify passes and , and coordinate passenger transfers.
- Receive and transmit communications over a two-way radio and mobile data terminal (MDT).
- Report schedule delays and complete files on accidents, detours, vehicle inspections, fares and passes, and other incidents; make recommendations for safety and route improvements.
- Work cooperatively with personnel at all levels.
- Attend in-service training, seminars or other opportunities for professional development as available.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience with excellent customer service skills.
- At least 21 years old, valid Operator's License with CT "F" (Public Passenger) endorsement.
- No more than one (1) moving violation in the last three years.
- Ability to work until midnight, including weekends; hours per day must comply with CT Hours of Service.
- Must not have outside employment that interferes with employment at SEAT.
- Ability to pass DOT physical exam and pre-employment testing meeting the physical requirements of the position.
- Must be able to attend training.
- Must be able to effectively read, write, speak and comprehend Basic English.
$20.89/Hour to start;
Excellent full-time benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, paid vacation, sick and personal days, 457(k) and an EAP program. Part-time benefits include paid vacation, holidays and 457K.
