Transportation Specialist position description:
Responsible for driving a company vehicle on a set route to deliver and pick up mail, supplies, and specimens, and deliver back to the lab for processing. Works as part of a team to improve services to patients.
Schedule: This is a part‑time position, 25 hours per week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10:00 AM‑3:00 PM;
Saturdays 11:00 AM‑3:30 PM. Schedule is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
- Deliver and pick up mail and supplies to the offices.
- Pick up specimens and store appropriately for transport.
- Fill out route sheet completely and accurately.
- Go to each stop on the route sheet and check every specimen box for specimens.
- Use the logistics phone and ensure the phone number is on the sign‑in sheet; answer or return calls in a timely manner.
- Complete the sign‑in sheet accurately with return time and number of specimens.
- Ensure specimen count matches what the processors count.
- Adapt to changes in scheduling due to weather, holidays or traffic.
- Operate a company‑owned vehicle following all state laws.
- Perform a safety check of the vehicle; ensure all items necessary for proper storage are packed before departure (ice for the cooler, dry ice for frozen specimens, cooler bag, route sheet and binder).
- Ensure all materials are accounted for and deliveries are to the correct destination.
- Represent PHP Laboratory when dealing with offices and Quest stations.
- Maintain a clean vehicle inside and outside.
- Comfortable lifting up to 20 lbs.

- Current motor vehicle record in good standing.
- Previous experience as a delivery driver.
Pay is based on local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. Hourly pay range for this role is $16.00 to $25.05 per hour based on full‑time employment. All wages comply with applicable minimum wage laws.
