Manager I, Plant Quality

Job SummaryThe Manager I, Plant Quality is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the consistent quality of products and processes within a designated CROWN Cork & Seal USA, Inc. manufacturing plant. This role involves implementing and maintaining quality management systems, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and managing a team of quality professionals to meet and exceed customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain the plant's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with company policies, industry standards (e.g., ISO), and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and manage a team of quality assurance and quality control personnel, training, performance management, and development.
- Establish and monitor key quality metrics and performance indicators, analyzing data to identify trends, root causes of issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee the inspection and testing of raw materials, in‑process components, and finished goods to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Manage the non‑conforming product process, including identification, segregation, investigation, disposition, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Lead root‑cause analysis investigations for quality issues, customer complaints, and internal deviations, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to integrate quality principles throughout the manufacturing process.
- Conduct internal audits and facilitate external audits (customer, regulatory, third‑party) to ensure QMS compliance and effectiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and optimize processes.
- Develop and deliver quality training programs for plant personnel to promote a culture of quality awareness and accountability.
- Prepare and present quality reports to plant leadership and corporate quality management.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the quality department.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
- 3‑5 years of progressive experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment, preferably in packaging, metals, or a similar industry.
- 1‑2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) principles and standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Demonstrated experience with quality tools and methodologies such as SPC, FMEA, 8D, PPAP, and Lean/Six Sigma.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Proficient in data analysis and statistical process control.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
