Summary

Work with community based training or employment sites by providing students with work related support services, and serving as a liaison between the employer and the Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides vocational assistance at a community based site for qualified students with disabilities.
  • Works with community business representatives to assure a realistic working environment for students.
  • Provides/assists in arranging transportation for students to/from community based instructional sites.
  • Maintains and submits all relevant reports related to community work experiences to the proper individual(s).
  • Provides for emergency care for student’s illness or injury.
  • Participates in staff development activities as directed by Administration.
  • Plans training methods to fit the student’s needs and the changing work environment.

Students participating in the program.

Qualification Requirements

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Driver’s License.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write and/or complete routine reports. Ability to effectively present information and speak with students, parents, staff, and employers.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to work with and understand the characteristics of students with disabilities. Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with students, parents, staff, and school community. Maintains ethical behavior and confidentiality of information at all times. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions and to demonstrate sensitivity to the way physical, mental, emotional disabilities affect the behavior of adolescents.

Must have dependable transportation. Knowledgeable, or willingness to be trained, in first aid and CPR. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of School Trustees policies.
