Asphalt Paver Operator

Overview

Join J T Russell & Sons as a Full-Time Asphalt Paver Operator. This onsite role in Conover, NC involves working with cutting-edge equipment to meet the highest safety standards. Compensation ranges from $18.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience.

• Operate the asphalt paver to meet project specifications and production requirements, maintaining proper depth, grade, and finished cross-section.
• Collaborate with crew members and apply asphalt as instructed; perform various tasks as needed.
• Inspect equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure safety and optimal operation.
• Clean equipment and execute minor repairs; report larger issues to supervisors.
• Comply with local, state, and federal regulations and adhere to company safety procedures and PPE policies.

• 3+ years of asphalt paver operation experience, with emphasis on roads, highways, and bridges.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operation, safety standards, and the ability to maintain, inspect, clean, and occasionally repair equipment.
• Keen attention to detail and situational awareness to maintain a safe work environment.
• Willingness to perform manual labor as needed and to work with a team with minimal supervision.
• Professional interaction with co-workers, inspectors, customers, and the public.
• Reliable transportation to and from the Conover office;
  Commercial Driver's License preferred.

The job requires physical stamina, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 90 pounds. Ability to navigate uneven surfaces in varying weather conditions. May involve working with hazardous substances common in construction. Flexibility regarding work schedules, including nights and travel, and the ability to work well in a team with minimal supervision. Reliable transportation to the Conover office is required.
