The Transformer Apparatus Tech is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and testing of apparatus in substations, including power circuit breakers, transformers, and step voltage regulators under direct supervision. The role requires work in confined spaces and elevated work areas, and work with various pieces of construction equipment specific to the trade. Transformer Apparatus Techs must resolve day-to-day issues and find suitable solutions under difficult circumstances, with excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
A Transformer Apparatus Tech must be able to work at various locations and may be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands.

- Must have 5+ years of direct Apparatus Transformer experience.

- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Able to work flexible hours to complete job task at hand.
- Able to multi-task and manage priorities.
- Must be honest, assertive, and systematic.
- Must have knowledge of construction standard practices, techniques, quality requirements, applicable codes and standards.
- Must have knowledge of substation apparatus drawings (e.g., elevations, plan views, section views, wiring schematics).
- Proficient experience in gas/oil breakers, power transformers, commissioning and decommissioning.
- Computer skills, and familiarity with Word, Excel, and email.
- Must be capable of working in confined spaces/areas.
- Must be capable of learning to operate various types of heavy equipment.
- Must be capable of lifting in excess of 50 lbs.
- Must be capable of climbing and working at heights up to 125 feet above ground.
- Must be capable of working in close proximity of energized substation equipment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license;
Class A CDL license strongly preferred. - Working knowledge of electrical test equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and general mechanics.
- High School diploma or equivalent experience in related field is required.
