Driver Switcher

The Switcher Driver drives a tractor‑trailer on company property backing in trailers to the correct loading dock. This driver never drives on public roads.

Must be at least 22 years of age to perform this job. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Must be at least 22 years old with a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
• Have at least one (1) year verifiable Over‑Road experience
• Pass a DOT physical and DOT drug screen
• Meet all DOT and Company requirements

• Checks schedule and receives assignment from supervisor.
• Drives switcher tractor in a safe manner.
• Locates trailer by trailer number and property attaches (air brakes, etc) to the switcher tractor
• Backs trailers into dock or unloading area as instructed by lead person or supervisor.
• Gets out of the tractor and opens or closes the trailer doors.
• May put seals on trailer door after closing
• Uses a two‑way radio to communicate with others concerning moving trailers.
• Check oil, fuel, tires, batteries, etc. on vehicle and report any defects to supervisor
• Performs other duties as assigned.
