The Utility Person provides flexible support to the Shipping and Logistics team by assisting drivers, supporting material movement, and helping maintain daily workflow throughout the department. This position may assist drivers with pickups and deliveries when additional personnel are needed and may provide support to the Shipping Department during periods of staffing shortages or attendance issues.

This is a fully trainable position. No prior experience is required. The employee will be trained on company equipment, safe material-handling practices, computer scanning, and other processes necessary to successfully perform the job.

• Assist drivers with loading, unloading, moving, and handling furniture and other products as needed.
• Provide additional support when two employees are needed for pickups or other material-handling activities.
• Assist with moving product and materials throughout the facility using appropriate equipment.
• Use computer scanning systems to scan, track, and document product and materials.
• Assist the Shipping Department with daily activities when additional support is needed, including during periods of employee absence or staffing shortages.
• Follow established procedures for product handling, scanning, loading, unloading, and movement.
• Inspect products and materials for obvious damage or issues and communicate concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of material-handling equipment.
• Work cooperatively with drivers, shipping employees, supervisors, and other departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the department and overall operation.

• Regular and dependable attendance is required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to speak, read, and write English.
• No previous experience is required; the company will provide training.
• Must be willing and able to learn how to safely operate company equipment and use computer scanning systems.
• Must be able to remain on your feet and actively perform job duties throughout the workday.
• Must be able to bend, twist, reach, push, pull, lift, and maneuver as required to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Must be able to work around and handle furniture and other materials with the assistance of appropriate equipment.
• Must be able to perform the essential physical functions of the position without restrictions that would prevent the safe performance of the job.

• Standing/Walking:
  Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Bending/Twisting:
  Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and maneuvering may be required.
• Lifting/Carrying:
  Must be able to lift and move materials and furniture as required. Mechanical equipment and other material-handling equipment are available to assist with heavier products.
• Push/Pull:
  Must be able to push and pull products, carts, equipment, and materials as required.
• Reaching/Handling/Grasping:
  Frequent use of hands and arms is required to handle products, operate equipment, and perform scanning activities.
• Equipment Operation:
  Must be able to learn and safely operate equipment used to move and handle product.
• Work Environment:
  Work is primarily performed in a shipping/logistics environment and may involve exposure to moving equipment, furniture, varying temperatures, noise, dust, and other typical manufacturing/shipping conditions.
