About the Role
We are partnering with a growing, private equity-backed organization seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its Houston-based finance team. This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader who thrives in high‑growth environments and enjoys building structure, accountability, and scalable processes within the accounting function. Reporting into senior finance leadership, the Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting operations while actively contributing to more complex accounting areas.
The role primarily focuses on team leadership, review, and cross‑functional coordination as well as hands‑on technical accounting. This position plays a critical role in driving consistency in the month‑end close process, improving follow‑through across the team, and ensuring accurate, GAAP‑compliant financial reporting.
Compensation:
Salary Range: $120,000 – $130,000. Please note this range is an estimate and actual compensation may vary based on qualifications and experience.
- Lead and oversee daily accounting operations across general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash applications
- Establish and enforce a disciplined month‑end close cadence with clear deadlines and accountability measures
- Review journal entries, accruals, and fixed asset activity to ensure compliance with GAAP
- Maintain accurate balance sheet and income statement reporting with minimal post‑close adjustments
- Support and review project costing activities to ensure accurate tracking and allocation of costs
- Partner cross‑functionally with payroll and other departments to ensure alignment and data accuracy
- Document accounting processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, internal controls, and automation
- Support ERP optimization efforts and scalable system enhancements within a high‑growth environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred
- Progressive accounting experience with direct team management responsibility required
- Demonstrated ability to scale systems, processes, and teams within a small to mid‑sized, high‑growth organization
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience managing full‑cycle month‑end close
- Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Net Suite, Oracle, or SAP
- Familiarity with reconciliation tools and T&E systems
- Advanced Excel skills including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis functions
- Experience with project costing strongly preferred
Exposure to private equity‑backed reporting environments is a plus - Audit background and M&A experience are advantageous
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to drive accountability and process consistency
