Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead and oversee all general accounting operations. Reporting to the Global Controller, you will manage a team, direct financial strategy, ensure audit readiness, and provide technical accounting guidance across our organization. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting expertise, proven leadership ability, and experience with complex accounting concepts and multi-entity environments.
What You'll Do
- Oversee and manage all general accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and fixed assets
- Manage and coordinate the annual financial audit with third-party auditors
- Prepare, review, and analyze comprehensive financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Perform variance analysis comparing actual results versus budget and current period versus prior periods
- Coordinate with third-party providers for tax filing and preparation
- Prepare complex journal entries and account analysis for technical accounting concepts including lease accounting and revenue recognition
- Manage preparation and analysis of consolidated financial statements
- Execute timely month-end, quarterly, and year-end closings according to prescribed schedules
- Assess current accounting practices and procedures, and recommend process improvements
- Develop and mentor staff through performance management, goal-setting, training, and strong employee relationships
- Provide technical accounting guidance to staff on complex accounting topics
- Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects as requested by leadership
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
- Strong proficiency in accounting software systems (Quick Books, Net Suite, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Professional accounting certification (CPA, CMA, CIA)
- Experience with consolidated financial statements or multi-entity accounting
- Knowledge of project-based or job costing accounting
- Experience in timber, forestry, consulting, or natural resources industries
- Audit preparation and financial statement preparation experience
- A strategic thinker who understands the business implications of financial decisions
- A proven leader who develops talent and builds strong team relationships
- Someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- A detail-oriented professional who takes pride in accurate, audit-ready work
- A collaborative team player comfortable working cross-functionally with leadership
- Salary range: $85,000-$120,000 annually (with target of $110,000), depending on experience and qualifications
