Job Summary
Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking a full‑time, tenure‑track Pathology faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Usual DutiesThe successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of Pathology curriculum in foundational and systems‑based courses. Collaborate with faculty in other departments to provide a highly integrated curriculum. Provide instruction using various methods of content delivery, including large and small group discussions, case reports, grand rounds, and other interactive approaches. Participate in the writing of exam questions based on COMLEX‑USA and USMLE styles.
Maintain scholarly activities, such as applying for research grants, dissemination of research findings in peer‑reviewed journals, and conference attendance. Act as a faculty advisor and participate in selection of students. Perform other duties as assigned by the chair of the department.
DO or MD, with residency training in Pathology.
Experience RequirementsAt least 1‑year teaching experience in an academic institution at the graduate or professional level. Teaching experience with medical students preferred. Good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially with various faculty is required. Leadership skills and vision for enhancing the academic components of a multi‑disciplinary department are essential. Candidate should present a plan for scholarly activity, including publications and presentations commensurate with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
OtherRequirements for the Position
Experience using different teaching methods, which includes case‑based learning, flipped classroom, interactive large group presentation, audience response systems, and curriculum delivery systems (Blackboard) is highly preferred; experience with curricular and instructional design is desired.
A Texas medical license and/or a board‑certification in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology are not required.
