Direct and lead the District Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) programs including academic and behavior interventions (RtI), Positive Behavior Support programs (PBIS), and Character Education programs. Serve as an instructional leader in evaluating, coordinating, monitoring, and developing the district’s behavioral and academic interventions for the purpose of improving student achievement. Participate as an active member of the District Support Team and the Curriculum and Instruction Team.
Build capacity for campus leadership to implement effective MTSS practices at the campus level.
- Create, design, and implement the district’s policies and procedures that address student academic and social-emotional-behavior needs for overall success.
- Increase and monitor implementation of the MTSS process through staff development presentations across the district.
- Guide and lead the district MTSS staff to ensure cohesive implementation of best practices.
- Evaluate MTSS data collection and interpretation.
- Develop MTSS data reports.
- Direct the implementation of MTSS strategies and interventions.
- Direct the implementation and use of progress monitoring and universal screening.
- Direct the implementation of the Standards of Structures and Procedures, as well as the Standard of Classroom Culture across the district.
- Provide analysis of outcome of intervention strategies.
- Monitor the effectiveness and implementation of both Tier II and Tier III intervention programs and systems.
- Provide recommendations for ways in which the Curriculum and Instruction can be adapted to meet the learning needs of struggling students.
- Research and evaluate interventions to implement for Tier II and Tier III.
- Assist with creating safe and effective classrooms for all students.
- Assist building principals in interpreting procedures and guidelines concerning MTSS.
- Communicate and collaborate with principals, curriculum and instruction, assistant superintendents, and parents concerning MTSS.
- Recruit, screen, interview, and hire prospective personnel.
- Prepare and plan budgets.
- Assist in the development of effective instructional and behavior intervention strategies to ensure student success and goal mastery.
- Create and implement staff development in areas of student academic, emotional, and behavioral support.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Three years successful campus administrative experience at the secondary or elementary level.
- Experience with MTSS implementation.
- Experience coaching teachers with struggling students.
- Experience creating and delivering staff development.
- Experience conducting and writing academic and behavioral intervention plans for students.
- Experience in providing parent training.
Education/Certification:
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Valid principal certificate (Texas mid-management) or other appropriate Texas administrator certificate
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Knowledge of the MTSS processes including the core principles of RtI
- Experience with universal screening, evidence-based practices, progress monitoring, data-based decision making, fidelity implementation, and research-based curriculum at Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III
- Knowledge of strategies for working with students with struggling learners
- Strong background in differentiated instruction
- Expertise in curriculum, instruction, and staff development
- Ability to interpret data to support development of Tier II and Tier III interventions for both academic and behavior needs
- Knowledge and practice of current research-based strategies in Positive Behavior Supports, Interventions, and Character Education
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead and motivate other staff members
- Ability to manage crisis situations
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise coordinators, facilitators, and office staff.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Tools/Equipment: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment.
- Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
- Motion: Frequent walking.
- Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; occasional district travel; occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
Pay Grade: AE-7 - Minimum pro-rated salary - $106,496
