Job Description

Teaching faculty provide learning activities and support that lead to course objectives and contribute to the educational environment. Adjunct faculty are hired part‑time, semester by semester, on a maximum of five classes per academic year.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teach ESOL courses at varied times and locations
  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application
  • Submit required reports and forms on time
  • Use a course syllabus following institutional guidelines
  • Meet with and advise students before/after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
  • Evaluate students to measure progress and inform them of their progress in a timely manner
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
  • Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving. No special physical demands are required.

Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Use of PC workstation on LAN in Microsoft Windows, calculator, phone, and standard office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed
  • Work in climate‑controlled classroom or lab with minimal safety hazards
  • Hours vary by class time; instructors must meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside instruction
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in TESOL/TESL/TEFL, Second Language Acquisition, Linguistics, or English where English is taught as a foreign language
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with 12 hours of TESOL/TESL/TEFL, Second Language Acquisition, or Linguistics coursework
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with secondary/postsecondary TSEOL/TESL/TEFL certificate, CELTA, or DELTA
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with 3 years of ESOL teaching experience at secondary/postsecondary level
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with evidence of 12 hours of coursework in at least 3 of the following: language teaching methodologies, the nature of language/languages, the structure of English, second language acquisition, intercultural communication, practicum experience
Salary

$55.44 per contact hour.
