Certified OTHER Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Facilitator
Implement the district’s comprehensive school counseling program plan to address the unique needs of each student through targeted guidance instruction, personalized advising, and responsive counseling services.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provide college and career awareness activities.
- Provide students with information about campus and district programs that guides students in developing their high school Personal Graduation Plan (four‑year high school plan).
- Provide orientation sessions for parents.
- Coordinate and/or deliver required legislative awareness activities such as suicide prevention, bullying prevention, digital citizenship, fentanyl poisoning, human trafficking and other related student safety initiatives.
- Confer with students, parents, and teachers when needed.
- Conduct individual personal/academic student and parent conferences.
- Assist in the referral process and educational placement of students with special needs.
- Serve as a resource for students, parents and staff members to access community resources.
- Assist individual students in demonstrating self‑confidence in achieving educational goals.
- Place students in instructional programs.
- Maintain student junior high school Personal Graduation Plans for students who have failed any section of state‑mandated testing.
- Access testing information and competency test scores for each student.
- Plan, implement and evaluate a campus‑level Comprehensive School Counseling Program to serve all students through guidance curriculum, responsive services, individual planning and system support.
- Consult with the district school counseling team as needed.
- Adhere to all required timelines and established procedures.
- Meet deadlines as established by the Technology and PEIMS departments for scheduling and grade reporting.
- Maintain and communicate a current calendar of school counseling activities.
- Attend required district professional development and staff meetings.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships.
- Cooperate with and support faculty and staff.
- Initiate procedure to analyze and modify, as necessary, performance of duties based on self‑analysis, feedback from students and interactions with colleagues.
- Maintain and improve professional competence through ongoing learning, including reading, coursework and participation in professional development activities.
- Demonstrate self‑control and exhibit an overall positive approach.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience working with students in an educational setting or with school‑aged children.
- Experience supporting students/school‑aged children in crisis situations.
Education/Certification:
- Professional school counselor’s certificate.
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Knowledge of school counseling procedures, student assessment, and college and career awareness.
- Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Serve students in accordance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) school counseling standards.
- Knowledge of and experience in the interpretation of various assessment instruments.
- Knowledge of academic curriculum.
- Knowledge/awareness of how to access community resources.
- Tools/Equipment used:
Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment. - Posture:
Prolonged sitting; frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. - Motion:
Frequent walking. - Lifting:
Regular light lifting and carrying less than 15 pounds; occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior. - Environment:
Work inside, may work outside. - Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress; occasional district travel; may work prolonged or irregular hours.
PAY GRADE: AE‑3 – Minimum pro‑rated salary – $74,746
