Bilingual Instructional Aide

To facilitate and assist in providing a quality program of instruction designed to meet the affective, linguistic and cognitive needs of limited English proficient students.

• Assist bilingual teacher in providing quality dual-language instruction for limited English proficient students.
• Support and carry out activities related to the bilingual program.
• Perform duties involving the supervision of students.
• Communicate with students, teachers, staff, and parents.
• Present a positive role model for students.
• Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
• Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Previous work with children in job-related capacity or volunteer work.
• Experience related to working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent. Experience may be work in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day‑care centers, or similar agencies or institutions.

Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate (must obtain within 30 days of employment).

Skills:

• Fluent in Spanish.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Positive human relations skills.
• Appreciation of and patience with children.
• Excellent communication skills in Spanish and in English.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Positive work performance regarding promptness, attendance, and productivity.
• Willingness to take initiative.

Pay Grade: IS-1 - Minimum hourly rate - $14.00
