The PT Coach, Special Olympics coaches Special Olympics teams and helps students develop related skills.

• Provides positive leadership with strong communication skills
• Actively participates in practices to train on sport skills
• Encourages student athletes to succeed on the field and academically and to work hard, to graduate, and to never stop learning
• Compares how discipline on the field relates to real life decisions and why it is important to remain positive and focused
• Recruit student athletes to attend LSC and work effectively with the diverse student population while inspiring them continue their education
• Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

• Must possess positive leadership and communication skills to promote a positive team attitude.
• Must be well organized and flexible to meet time, priority and workload demands.
• Must be available to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
• Must be able to travel to practices, games and tournaments.
• Must be able to maintain relationships, build trust, and act as a mentor & guide to students. Must be willing to be role model and demonstrate how to be an effective coach.

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.

• Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, and assorted sports equipment
• Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
• Work is often performed in outdoor elements, including extreme heat and cold
• Work hours will include evenings and weekends

• High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination…
