The JobWe are looking for a Technical Manager for our Conroe, Texas plant.
Some of your main duties & responsibilities:
- Lead the safe execution, commissioning, startup, and completion of capital projects, including the construction and startup of new process units and production facilities.
- Manage and oversee all engineering, maintenance, reliability, electrical, and instrumentation activities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
- Develop and implement the plant's engineering and maintenance strategies, including preventive, predictive, and reliability‑centered maintenance programs.
- Direct and mentor Project Engineers, Maintenance Technicians, E&I Technicians, contractors, and other technical personnel to achieve operational and project objectives.
- Develop, manage, and monitor annual Cap Ex and OpEx budgets, ensuring projects and maintenance activities are executed within approved financial targets.
- Lead Management of Change (MOC) activities and ensure all engineering modifications comply with applicable safety, environmental, regulatory, and company requirements.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to maintenance, reliability, project execution, equipment performance, cost control, safety, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Support process safety management initiatives by leading risk assessments, participating in hazard reviews, investigating incidents, and implementing corrective actions.
- Oversee the maintenance and technical integrity of critical plant equipment, including pumps, piping systems, tanks, heat exchangers, reactors, utilities, instrumentation, electrical systems, and process control equipment.
- Ensure accurate technical documentation is maintained, including engineering drawings, P&IDs, maintenance procedures, operating procedures, equipment files, and project records.
- Manage external engineering firms, contractors, equipment vendors, and service providers to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company standards.
You'll succeed if:
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of engineering, maintenance, reliability, or capital project experience within a chemical, petrochemical, refining, specialty chemical, biofuels, or similar manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing technical teams, maintenance personnel, engineering staff, contractors, or project teams.
- Demonstrated experience leading capital projects from concept development through design, construction, commissioning, startup, and project closeout.
- Strong knowledge of industrial equipment including pumps, motors, gearboxes, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, reactors, piping systems, tanks, utility systems, and rotating equipment.
- Experience performing and reviewing engineering calculations related to equipment sizing, hydraulics, heat transfer, process systems, piping systems, and mechanical equipment.
- Working knowledge of process safety management (PSM), Management of Change (MOC), OSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and recognized engineering standards.
- Experience managing maintenance programs, shutdowns, contractor activities, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Strong project management, budgeting, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
