The SJRA delivers raw water to municipal and industrial consumers and provides water treatment and wastewater services through ownership, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure, including reservoirs, wells, treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and open channel systems.

Overview

Night Shift Utility Operator at the 30

MGD surface water treatment plant, GRP (Groundwater Reduction Plan) Division in Conroe, Texas. Full‑time position, shift hours 6:00PM – 6:00AM. The role involves operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting water treatment, supply, transmission, and distribution systems to ensure safe, cost‑effective, and efficient operation in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain water treatment equipment and systems.
  • Monitor and adjust treatment processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment.
  • Collect and analyze water samples, prepare reports, and maintain records.
  • Communicate with other operators and supervisors to ensure efficient operation of the treatment plant.
  • Work as primary essential personnel during or in preparation for, and recovery from, emergency events as directed by supervisors.

This position is classified as a safety‑sensitive position and the holder is required to submit to random, unannounced drug and alcohol testing.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in the operations and maintenance of surface water treatment systems.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a TCEQ Class C Surface Water Operator and/or Class C Groundwater license is required.
