BriefJob Description
This position monitors and investigates child‑care facilities throughout Texas, ensuring compliance with state laws and protecting the safety of children. The inspector conducts inspections, collaborates with child‑care providers, offers training, and addresses regulatory issues, including complaints and enforcement actions.
Essential Job Functions- Monitors licensed and registered child‑care facilities, documents compliance or noncompliance, and notifies providers of corrective action in accordance with CCR policy. Responsibilities include monitoring inspections, follow‑ups, and background checks. (30%)
- Investigates complaints and allegations of standard violations in child‑care facilities and homes, completing investigations timely and accurately according to law and policy. (25%)
- Evaluates new applications for child‑care facilities to issue permits, ensuring documentation reflects acceptance and issuance decisions. (15%)
- Identifies risk and references Child‑Care Enforcement when necessary, managing provider plans of action and following up on enforcement actions. (10%)
- Provides training and technical assistance to child‑care providers, including meetings and educational sessions. (10%)
- Responds to emergency complaints of high‑risk situations. (5%)
- Performs other duties as assigned to maintain unit operations. (5%)
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of Texas laws and regulations.

- Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in regulatory services such as inspections and investigations (preferred).
- Experience in regulatory services, including as a regulatory inspector.
- Experience performing highly complex inspection or investigation work under limited supervision.
- Experience establishing priorities and methods for securing evidence and assessing programs and procedures.
- Experience in regulatory services as a regulatory inspector or investigator.
- Experience performing inspection or investigation work under minimal supervision.
- Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising a team.
- Work hours are flexible; occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
- The position may qualify for up to 100% telework, conducted via mobile technology.
- Reliable transportation, a valid Texas driver’s license, and insurance are required.
- Background checks are required, including criminal history and Texas Child Abuse and Neglect Registry checks.
