We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to provide in-home support for clients living with Parkinson’s disease and various forms of dementia. This is a non-skilled home care role, focused on personal assistance, observation, and support — not skilled nursing. The ideal candidate has strong clinical fundamentals, patience, and experience working with seniors experiencing cognitive or mobility challenges.
Our mission is to provide safe, respectful, and dignity-centered care that allows clients to remain comfortable in their own homes.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Provide Parkinson’s-specific mobility support (gait assistance, fall prevention awareness)
- Support clients with dementia through structured routines and redirection techniques
- Monitor and document vital signs as directed
- Observe and report changes in physical or cognitive condition to supervising staff
- Assist with medication reminders (no medication administration unless within scope and agency policy)
- Provide companionship and cognitive engagement activities
- Maintain a safe and clean home environment
- Document care provided and client observations accurately
- Communicate effectively with families and care coordinators
- Follow infection control and safety procedures
- Recognize early warning signs of decline and report appropriately
- Current CMA (AAMA) certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants
- Active CPR/BLS certification
- Experience working with seniors, Parkinson’s, or dementia clients preferred
- Understanding of non-skilled home care scope of practice
- Ability to work independently in a client’s home
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Clear background check
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Prior in-home care experience
- Experience with Alzheimer’s or related dementias
- Knowledge of fall prevention techniques
- Experience supporting clients with tremors, rigidity, or mobility challenges
- Patience and calm demeanor
- Strong observational skills
- Professional boundaries
- Dependability and punctuality
- Compassion and empathy
- Ability to de-escalate confusion or agitation safely
This is a non-skilled home care position. The CMA will not perform skilled nursing duties. All services are provided in accordance with Texas home care regulations and agency policies.
