The Homeless Outreach Specialist is responsible for providing assessments and outreach services in libraries, coffee shops, community centers, parks, and encampments to engage adults experiencing homelessness. Additional duties for this position include the following:
- Spend time building relationships with the homeless community to help connect individuals needing mental health, substance use, or medical treatment to available assistance in the community.
- Explore the community and identify individuals who are appropriate for outreach services.
- Work with minimal supervision, manage own time effectively, manage a small caseload of clients, and maintain projects/responsibilities.
- Collaborate with community partners to work toward the goal of ending homelessness.

- Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral Science field or related discipline
- Must qualify as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) under Texas Administrative Code (TAC) credentialing requirement (Rule §353.1415)

- Must be attentive, engaged, and able to interact safely and effectively with individuals with mental health disorders and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities (e.g., depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays)
- Mental health experience required, crisis experience preferred
- Valid driver's license and insurable through TCBHC
