Job Summary
The Supply Chain Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and monitoring daily supply chain activities across production planning, inventory, and logistics to ensure materials and finished goods move efficiently throughout the operation.
This person works closely with Production, Purchasing, Shipping, Receiving, and Sales to maintain visibility of production priorities, material availability, inventory levels, and customer requirements. The Supply Chain Supervisor identifies potential shortages, delays, inventory discrepancies, or operational constraints and follows through with the appropriate teams until issues are resolved.
This is a hands‑on, execution‑focused role. It requires someone who is highly organized, analytical, and proactive, someone who can keep multiple priorities moving, identify problems before they impact production or customer commitments, and communicate clearly across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Production Planner to ensure material availability, inventory, and logistics are aligned with the production schedule.
- Monitor raw material requirements against the production plan and identify potential shortages or constraints before they impact production.
- Coordinate with Purchasing and Receiving to follow up on incoming materials required to support production.
- Monitor raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory levels and accuracy.
- Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliation, and investigation of discrepancies.
- Identify excess inventory, shortages, slow‑moving materials, and other inventory risks.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics to ensure the timely movement of raw materials and finished goods.
- Oversee transportation and freight coordination and address issues that could affect operational or customer requirements.
- Work closely with Shipping and Sales to maintain visibility of order status and customer delivery commitments.
- Coordinate across Production, Purchasing, Shipping, Receiving, Sales, and the Production Planner when supply chain issues require cross‑functional resolution.
- Monitor and report KPIs related to inventory accuracy, material availability, logistics, fulfillment, and service levels.
- Analyze recurring shortages, delays, inventory discrepancies, and supply chain bottlenecks to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure ERP transactions, inventory records, and supply chain information are accurate and updated in a timely manner.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, material flow, lead times, freight efficiency, and order fulfillment.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance and follow‑up to supply chain personnel.
- Escalate critical or unresolved supply chain issues to management promptly.
- Follow open issues through resolution and ensure action items do not fall through the cracks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, inventory management, or related operations.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with production planning, inventory management, inbound/outbound logistics, and material flow.
- Knowledge of KPI development and performance reporting.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
Strong Excel and data analysis skills. - Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working both in an office environment and directly on the production floor.
