Maintenance Manager

The purpose of this position is to oversee and manage outsourced maintenance; major maintenance projects and any special projects related to roadways and assets. This is accomplished by coordinating contracted maintenance work, reviewing data, inspecting work and progress, coordinating work, materials, and information with departments, consultants, contractors and outside agencies, ensuring all policies and practices are followed, managing special weather events, overseeing annual inspections, and responding to requests for information and service.

Retention Bonus: $2,000

Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the United States immediately. This position is not available for H1-B visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees maintenance contracts by working with project managers on issues and problems, coordinating work with other departments, reviewing work orders, inspecting work, reviewing invoices, and authorizing payments, reviewing and analyzing maintenance methods, overseeing development of bids and specifications, and managing miscellaneous contracts.
  • Supervises projects by coordinating consultant contracts, reviewing schedules, plans and specifications, monitoring work performance, reviewing proposals and work authorizations, inspecting roads and rights of way, maintaining records, conferring with local, state and federal officials on projects and work, and responding to concerns and questions.
  • Maintains records on maintenance programs by selecting inspection sites, rating sites, taking measurements, reviewing any deficiencies in the roadway, compiling data and pictures, and reviewing and reporting results.
  • Completes inspections by driving property, acquiring bids for miscellaneous services such as mowing, reporting property conditions, coordinating annual inspections of all facilities, reviewing and modifying schedules, and reviewing and reporting results.
  • Responds to calls and special events by assigning service requests, managing events, contracting tasks as required, and coordinating crews, equipment and materials.
  • Manages traffic and incidents by collecting and evaluating data, reviewing capacity, evaluating trends, managing the evacuation plan process, coordinating construction projects, providing communications to the public, conducting incident debriefings, and reviewing approaches which are the least disruptive.
  • Provide support during inclement weather and participate in snow and ice events.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 3 – 5 years' experience
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Licensed as Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas
