Scope Of ResponsibilityThis position performs production within prescribed codes, and according to prescribed procedures, specifications, and drawings. Must complete Welder Training Program.

- Works Independently with minimal supervision once assignments or responsibilities outlined and delegated. Displays a strong sense of ownership for work.
- Flexible and Adaptable:
Copes with ambiguity, change, and uncertainty effectively. Not hesitant to resolve lack of clarity, structure, or definition of outcomes then moves ahead. - Actively seeks and supports continuous improvement activities in process efficiencies, costs and effectiveness of work
- Knowledge of general safety guidelines and Sabre’s quality expectations and application in the work place
- Uses the Flux Cored Arc Welding process to tack weld various small components to round or formed shafts to make a pole assembly for the welder to weld. The pole assembly generally consists of a round tube or formed shaft, baseplate, hand hole, arm mounting simplex, tenon top, vangs, step lugs, ladder clips, and/or other small parts.
- Works in Large Pole department on individual fitter station to assemble pole assembly. Assist material handler in loading round tube or formed shaft on individual fitter station.
- Reads and interprets drawings to determine parts needed to assemble pole assembly. Locate and gather Storeroom Personnel staged parts needed for assembly from parts staging area. Frequently pushes, pulls, and lifts up to 50 pounds.
- Reads and interprets drawing to assure proper location of various small part attachments. Layout various locations on round tube or formed shaft based upon interpretation of drawings and specifications.
- Uses measuring tape, level, square, and angle finders to measure distances and angles. Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses table to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
- Uses plasma torch and oxy-fuel torch to cut steel. Uses jigs made at Sabre/Texas for laying out vang slots and for cutting holes in shafts for inserting hand hole rims, arm mounting simplex, couplings, and other small parts. Wear protective goggles or welding hood to protect eyes from harmful rays.
- Moves around round tube or formed shaft as necessary to get into proper position to accurately measure and assemble components described above including standing on elevated platform when necessitated by the size of the shafts.
- Uses motorized grinders, motorized buffers, stone grinders, and drills to help assemble pole assembly according to prescribed specifications, codes and drawing. Wears protective face shield and safety glasses to protect eyes and face.
- Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures. Changes tips, ceramic cups, and electrodes in plasma torch as needed to achieve desired cutting results.
