CNC Lathe Machinist

Responsibilities

• Start machine to allow it to go through start up/warm up procedure.
• Load computerized machine control media as needed.
• Select, align, and secure chuck jaws, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machine.
• Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
• Obtain and place workpiece in machine; remove finished workpiece and place it in appropriate temporary storage.
• Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
• Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjust machine controls or control media or replace tools as required.
• Perform machine cleaning and minor maintenance; call supervisor as needed for major maintenance and repair.
• Confere with supervisors, engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems.
• Maintain a safe work area and conditions; notify safety coordinator of any unsafe situations.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.

• Minimum of two years experience in FANUC and Okuma controls.
• Ability to operate different machines and operations within the department, including setup and run of complex products.
• Ability to maintain high efficiency and low nonconformance.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
