Panelmatic Inc. is seeking a dedicated and skilled Fabrication Lead. The Fabrication Lead is a hands‑on leadership role, responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency while also actively participating in fabrication tasks. They combine the responsibilities of skilled fabricators with leadership duties, including supervising a team of fabricators and assisting supervisors with projects.
Job Duties- Overseeing and mentoring fabricators, leading production floor work, communicating instructions, and ensuring adherence to safety, production, and quality standards.
- Verifying material availability, creating material lists, ensuring tools are in working condition, reporting tool issues, tracking consumables usage, and reporting weekly to the supervisor.
- Performing complex welds, conducting quality inspections, overseeing fabrication projects, providing technical expertise, and assisting supervisors with projects.
- Inspecting welds for quality and conformance and identifying and implementing corrective actions for fabrication issues.
- Maintaining a clean work environment and collaborating with other departments.
- Selecting appropriate material for each job based on the desired or necessary strength.
- MIG welding mild and stainless steel.
- Cutting, bending, and shaping sheet metal to required dimensions.
- Measuring, cutting, and welding pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
- Hammers, chips, and grinding work pieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal to meet specifications.
- Verifying conformance of work pieces to specifications, using square, ruler, and measuring tape.
- Connecting pieces or securing seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws.
- Performing assigned work on assembly such as punching holes for screws or bending gutters.
- Setting up and operating fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses.
- Coordinating required shutdowns and startups of equipment with other departments after sheet metal installation.
- Developing and maintaining records for projects and repairs.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick).
- Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of welding safety protocols and regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail and quality.
- Two plus years of experience welding in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Two plus years of experience in forklift operating.
- Two plus years of experience in the use of basic tools (squares, clamps, fillet gauge, angle grinder, etc.).
- Two plus years of experience in shear, brake press, turret punch, CNC laser, ironworker, band saw, welding machine, cutting torch, plasma cutter, grinder, overhead crane, ratchet straps, and other hand tools.
- Two plus years of experience in applicable QAPs (Quality Assurance Procedures).
- High levels of organizational and time management skills.
- High levels of analytical, observational, and active listening skills.
- High levels of reliability.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to pass physical, drug, driving, and background check.
- Ability to physically push, pull, and lift 50lbs or more.
- Ability to stoop and bend.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for four plus hours at a time.
- Ability to read a tape measure and prints.
- Ability to convert decimals to fractions and utilize conversion charts.
- Excellent manual dexterity.
- Excellent color vision and eyesight.
