CNC Lathe Machinist

Position: CNC Lathe Machinist 3
Responsibilities

* Start machine to allow it to go through it start up/warm up procedure.

* Load computerized machine control media as needed.

* Selects, aligns, and secures chuck jaws, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machine.

* Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

* Obtains and places work piece in machine and removes finished work piece from machine and places it in appropriate temporary storage location.

* Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.

* Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media or replaces tools as required.

* Able to perform machine cleaning and minor maintenance and calls supervisor as needed for major maintenance and repair.

* Confers with supervisors, engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems.

* Is aware of and helps maintain a safe work area and conditions and makes the safety coordinator aware of any unsafe situations.

Job Requirements

Education and Training

* High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.

Experience

* Must have a minimum of two years of experience in FANUC and Okuma controls.

* Able to operate different machines and operations within the department including setup and run complex products.

* Able to maintain high efficiency and low nonconformance.

* Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blue prints.

* Able to write routine reports and correspondence.

* Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

* Able to compute rate, ratio and percent.
