The Production Technician is responsible for the hands‑on production, assembly, and quality testing of company‑manufactured therapeutic and rehabilitative equipment, along with related inventory and documentation duties. This position is progressive: responsibilities and independence increase as skill‑based competencies are demonstrated. From time to time, the Production Technician may also assist the service team with customer support tasks — such as phone troubleshooting, on‑site service calls, or equipment delivery — during periods of lower production demand or when additional coverage is needed.
Success in this role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, reliability, and a hands‑on, team‑oriented approach.
Production & Assembly
- Perform production, assembly, and finishing of company equipment in accordance with established build and quality‑control procedures.
- Follow standard work instructions and specifications across the company's product lines, maintaining consistency and accuracy at every step.
- Perform quality testing and inspection on customer returns, complete Non‑Conformance Report (NCR) documentation, and maintain accurate return logs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production and shop environment in accordance with company standards.
- Progress through skill‑based competency levels as proficiency increases, taking on greater responsibility — including more direct customer interaction — at higher levels.
- Communicate with team leads or supervisors regarding production schedules, material needs, and process issues.
- Perform scheduled cycle counts of parts, components, and finished goods inventory according to established procedures and count schedules.
- Conduct full physical inventory counts on a monthly basis, coordinating timing and coverage with the Warehouse Manager or designated lead.
- Research and resolve discrepancies identified during cycle counts or monthly counts, including recounts and root‑cause review as needed.
- Potentially assist in data entry of cycle count and monthly count results into the company's inventory or ERP system in a timely manner.
- When a full cycle count reveals discrepancies or gaps, perform complete re‑entry/recount of the affected cycle's data to ensure system records match physical stock.
- Help maintain organized, accurately labeled storage of parts, components, and supplies used in service and production.
- Flag low‑stock, obsolete, or slow‑moving inventory items to support purchasing and planning decisions.
- Support periodic or year‑end physical inventory efforts as needed.
- Maintain accurate, well‑organized records of service and production activity within company systems (e.g., ERP or CRM platforms).
- Identify recurring issues or failure patterns in the field or on the production floor and document or elevate them to support ongoing product and process improvement.
- Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory procedures related to equipment handling, repair, assembly, and testing.
- Assist the service team with phone‑based troubleshooting, on‑site service calls, or equipment delivery and setup during periods of lower production demand or when additional coverage is needed.
- Create or update service cases and log related call activity in company systems when covering service work.
- Train customers on the safe and effective use, care, and maintenance of their equipment when performing deliveries or service visits.
- Initiate related customer parts orders and collect payment information as required when supporting service calls.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work/life experience.
- One to three years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment; experience in electronics repair, mechanical repair, or general handyman services is also relevant.
