Under the direction of the Chief Clinical Officer, the Nurse Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing care. This role blends hands‑on clinical support with operational leadership, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient‑centered care across the unit.
You’ll collaborate across departments, mentor nursing staff, drive quality initiatives, and contribute to both clinical excellence and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Patient Care- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal care delivery
- Maintain strong knowledge of patient histories, progress, and treatment goals
- Provide direct patient care as needed (medications, IV therapy, responding to codes, etc.)
- Coordinate care with ancillary departments to enhance patient outcomes
- Oversee admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Conduct daily rounding to assess patient care and unit environment
- Mentor, coach, and support nursing staff in clinical decision‑making
- Lead orientation and ongoing training for new hires
- Develop and deliver education programs for staff, patients, and families
- Conduct monthly staff meetings and support ongoing communication
- Partner with leadership on performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions
- Ensure staff maintain required certifications and competencies
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory and accreditation standards
- Address patient and physician concerns promptly and effectively
- Develop audits and action plans to improve patient care and documentation
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and hospital committees
- Maintain knowledge of licensing standards and regulatory requirements
- Review staffing needs daily and coordinate coverage for census changes
- Manage on‑call coverage and respond to staffing emergencies
- Review payroll and monitor productivity metrics
- Assist in budget planning and financial performance tracking
- Support department productivity initiatives and performance goals
- Ensure a safe, well‑equipped environment for staff and patients
- Participate in hospital‑wide initiatives and committees
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas (required)
- BSN preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience
- Experience in LTAC, rehabilitation, or long‑term care settings preferred
- AHA BLS/CPR certification (required)
- CPI certification within 30 days of hire
- Current TB test within 14 days of employment and annually thereafter
- All certifications must remain active and in good standing
