Job Summary
Registered Nurse position on a Post‑Surgical Med‑Surg unit. This unit is not a PACU unit.
Responsibilities- Assess the patient’s condition during admission and at the start of each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s) and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient’s medical record; administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action for any unintended response.
- Respond promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipate patient needs, and resolve them to provide exceptional care.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment plan, medications, potential side effects, and follow‑up measures, translating complex medical terminology into understandable language.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Registered Nurse (RN) with an active license in the state of Texas or a multistate license that includes Texas.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred;
Associate’s degree is the minimum requirement. - Minimum of 1 year of experience working in an acute hospital Med‑Surg or Tele unit.
