House Supervisor – Registered Nurse (RN) | Behavioral Health
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: Nights
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff and hospital operations during assigned shifts.
- Manage daily staffing and scheduling to ensure appropriate patient coverage while minimizing overtime and agency utilization.
- Approve or deny time-off requests based on staffing needs.
- Monitor staff attendance and assist with payroll-related functions.
- Provide direct patient care and support admissions, assessments, and intake activities as needed.
- Serve as a clinical resource and patient advocate.
- Coach, mentor, and educate nursing staff to promote professional development and high-quality patient care.
- Conduct staff performance evaluations and assist with corrective action and disciplinary processes.
- Assist with department meetings, documentation, and communication initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and state and federal healthcare regulations.
- Investigate incidents, document findings, and prepare reports for leadership.
- Resolve staff conflicts and facilitate effective communication among interdisciplinary teams.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, admissions, discharges, and other clinical duties as required.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred.
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
- Minimum one year of behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
- Experience working with psychiatric, chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, or geriatric behavioral health populations is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of patient assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and interdisciplinary care coordination.
- Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
- De-escalation certification required within 30 days of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN License.
- Behavioral Health/Psychiatric nursing experience.
- Leadership or supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, or Nurse Manager experience.
- Experience with behavioral health accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Experience with psychiatric, dual diagnosis, substance abuse, or geriatric behavioral health patients.
