Landscaping, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Groundskeeper
Perform daily activities of grounds maintenance to ensure District grounds are safe, neat, and attractive.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:- Operate assorted hand tools and mowing equipment.
- Maintain appearance of District grounds by mowing, trimming, and weed eating, removing undesirable debris, filling hazardous holes in grounds as directed by Grounds Team Leader.
- Provide support and manpower for other crafts as directed.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor.
- Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed and be on-call/stand-by as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Other duties assigned.
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping
Education/Certification:
- Valid Texas driving license
Skills:
- Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions
- Some working knowledge of mowing equipment and ability to comprehend verbal instructions and willingly see them completed
- Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions
- Ability to operate tractor and landscaping equipment
- Ability to operate riding or power mower, power tools, and hand tools
- Ability toconnect and pull a 24'+ goose neck trailer and a 10'+ bumper pull trailer
EQUIPMENT USED: Tractor and mower, riding and power mower, gas-powered weed trimmer, blower, edger, sprayer, garden and hand tools, posthole auger, and aerator. Light truck or van, heavy duty truck, 24+ goose neck trailer and a 10'+ bumper pull trailer.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Be able to lift up to 50 pounds above head. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer), and loud noises. Frequent District wide travel.
SALARY:
Pay Grade: AUX - 2 - Minimum hourly rate - $15.00.
