Quality Assurance Manager - Conroe

Conroe Huntsman is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager - Conroe supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in Conroe. This position will report to the Technical Manager.

Job Scope

This position is accountable for general oversight of the Conroe plant’s Quality function, including quality control, quality assurance, and quality management system processes. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and improving quality processes to facilitate greater internal efficiencies and customer satisfaction - particularly as the site transitions to markets where quality and product consistency are vital to foster and maintain highly satisfied customers.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe, cost-effective, and efficient operation of the Conroe plant Quality team, including personnel and equipment performance
  • Ensure applicable EHS policies and procedures are followed
  • Drive a culture of quality assurance versus quality control throughout the site
  • Direct point contact for QA/QC function at the site
  • Manage quality engineers, quality specialists, analytical chemist and oversee staff lab technician contractors through the contracting agency
  • Manage laboratory quality control processes to ensure finished goods are tested and on-specification as well as in-control prior to shipment
  • Accountable for the new product introduction (NPI) process for final manufacturing sign-off, including review and approval of product specifications, laboratory test methods, and COA profiles
  • Oversee plant compliance and certification to ISO 9001 quality standard
  • Maintain KPIs to measure plant quality performance
  • Ensure timely investigation of customer complaints assigned to the Conroe plant
  • Review complaint responses for adequacy of investigation and effectiveness of corrective/preventive actions
  • Interact with the Huntsman commercial team and directly with customers as needed to ascertain customer requirements and resolve issues
  • Organize and facilitate onsite customer quality audits and customer site visits
  • Ensure timely response to customer quality surveys and questionnaires
  • Monitor implementation of all action items assigned to quality personnel (ex: from audits, nonconforming product investigations, customer complaints, etc.)
  • Provide guidance and enforce governance for SAP QM and LIMS transactions
  • Identify trends and opportunities for quality process improvements
  • Maintain raw material specifications and ensure a receiving process is in place to monitor raw material quality prior to use
  • Work with the regional quality group to perform regular supplier performance reviews for key raw material and packaging suppliers and participate in supplier quality audits as needed
  • Ensure adequate training on quality processes and regularly review existing procedures for updates and improvements
  • Manage the annual budget for the Conroe quality function, including timely requests for capital projects and personnel
  • Serve as plant liaison and subject matter expert on global quality, supply chain, and manufacturing initiatives related to quality
Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, or business administration discipline
  • 15+ years’ experience in applied quality assurance, preferably in a chemical plant environment
  • Experience as an ISO 9001 auditor
  • Demonstrated excellent ability to communicate effectively and lead quality-based teams
  • Results oriented with strong planning, organization, and communication skills (verbal and written)
Preferred Qualifications
  • cGMP practices and Six Sigma (preferred)
  • Pharma, healthcare, or semiconductor background experience is a plus
Working Environment

Must be willing to travel 5-10% (primarily within the local area).
