Provide extraordinary shopping experiences for guests and exceptional service at checkout.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Know and actively demonstrate, daily, the Company Mission Statement and Core Values.
  • Maintain uniform standard, as detailed in the Employee Manual, for all worked hours.
  • Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor, use Guest Services script.
  • Operate cash register or electronic scanner, look up products, access UPC codes or prices.
  • Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode.
  • Use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment properly.
  • Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add‑on items.
  • Monitor merchandise brought to the register by stockers so that accurate amounts are charged to the guest.
  • Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required.
  • Ask the guest to read and answer the pin pad question before starting the transaction. Never answer the pin pad questions for the guest.
  • If necessary, check acceptable identification, use 36 sign‑in, to ensure legal sale. Use best practices and professional s.
  • Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.
  • Issue receipts and any change due.
  • Accurately count change back to the guest.
  • Bag or box merchandise, use bags appropriately, and bottle protectors when needed.
  • Assist with carry‑outs when needed and feasible.
  • Compute and record totals of all transactions on a daily record sheet.
  • Call the code for a cash drop as soon as the limit has been reached to maintain till balance.
  • Keep work area clean and neat, do not overstock the counter with merchandise.
  • Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.
  • Answer questions and provide information to guests.
  • May resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.
  • Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
  • Avoid use of personal cell phone while on the sales floor.
  • Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.
  • Monitor checkout station, ensuring all needed tools such as register paper and paper bags are in stock.
  • Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.
  • Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Possess time management skills and prioritize tasks.
  • Manage stress in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Stand for most of the shift, bend and walk occasionally. Use arms, hands, and fingers to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, push or pull 50‑100 pounds occasionally.
  • Communicate with and understand team members and guests.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by management.
  • Clean the restroom when required.
  • Attendance and timeliness are required.
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Cashiering experience preferred; willingness to learn is acceptable.
    Language Skills
    • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos.
    • Communicate with coworkers and guests.
    • Bilingual skills are a plus.
    Mathematical Skills
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
    • Calculate discounts and percentages accurately.
    Personal Skills

    Physical Demands

    Requires standing, walking, bending, using arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift. Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally; push or pull 50‑100 pounds occasionally. Meet physical requirements for the job.

    Work Hours

    Full‑time: 35 hours per week, flexible shifts—availability required on Friday or Saturday and at least 80% of all other shifts. Part‑time: up to 25 hours per week.

    Certificates and Licenses

    Valid TABC Beverage Seller’s Permit required;
    Food Handlers Permit may be required.

    Work Environment

    Fun and positive environment; moderate noise level; may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
