The Accountant supports a variety of accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, audit preparation, cash management, and reconciliations. You will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Finance Team to ensure accurate financial records, compliance, and responsible stewardship of public funds.

What you'll do
* Perform monthly account reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and support month-end and year-end close processes.
* Monitor and reconcile agency general operating, payroll, high-balance, and client trust accounts.
* Assist with the annual budget process, including supporting cost center managers with annual preparation and input into budgeting software.
* Prepare and review annual 1099s using Atrix software.
* Provide training and support to staff on financial procedures and proper documentation.
* Assist with annual audits, fiscal monitoring reviews, depreciation calculations, and supporting schedules.
* Prepare internal financial reports and provide data to managers as needed.
* Provide backup support for payroll and accounts payable functions.
* Cross-train across the Accounting Department to ensure continuity of operations and support overall team success.
What you'll need
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field.
* Minimum of four (4) years of experience in accounting or finance.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Strong understanding of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Texas Grant Management Standards (TxGMS).
* Ability to pass Intermediate Excel and Intermediate Word, competency testing, Outlook.
* Typing speed of at least 40 WPM
* Valid driver's license and ability to be insured through Tri-County
* Reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
* Community Center experience.
* Experience with governmental accounting and audit preparation.
* Familiarity with HHSC contracts and financial compliance guidelines

Compensation
$65,000 to $75,000 annually
Depending on qualifications and experience.
