This position can be filled as an Automotive Technician Apprentice II, Automotive Tech or Automotive Technician Sr. depending on qualifying candidate's experience.
Perform all tasks and meet experience; special qualifications; and physical qualifications for the Automotive Hydraulic Technician Apprentice 1 and those listed for Apprentice 2 for all Entergy owned, leased, and rented equipment. Lead or assist in the more complex repairs and maintenance of all Entergy owned, leased, and rented equipment. Perform the following and related tasks with indirect or limited supervision and assist in more complicated task with qualified automotive hydraulic technician;
qualified supervisor; qualified manufacturer or vendor representative (Ex: Altec; ITL). Travel safely to jobsite in Entergy vehicle and work with customers to complete tasks with minimal interruption to line activity.
Employee in this position will advance when applicable qualifications, experience, and special qualifications are met; along with completion of appropriate Skills Assessment.
AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN 2 Must be qualified to:
- Use diagnostic tool and schematics to identify and correct issues with electrical systems, engine, transmission, and aerial systems on all Entergy owned, leased, or rented equipment.
- Read codes and perform function tests and interpret results.
- Possess basic automotive electrical knowledge and have ability to use DVOM (Digital Volt-Ohm Meter) for voltage, resistance, and continuity testing.
- Make all necessary and routine repairs to internal combustion engines, exhaust systems, and emission control systems including use of manufacturer task specific tools.
- Make all chassis related repairs to steering and suspension systems.
- Search electronic sources to find information such as equipment identification info, inspection and repair procedures, fluid capacities, and torque specs.
- Accurately use task specific mechanical tools.
- Properly diagnose and repair automotive HVAC systems.
- Basic cutting and welding and fabrication skills.
B. EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must meet all qualifications, experience, and special qualifications for Automotive Hydraulic Technician Apprentice 1.
- Must have worked for at least two years, and qualified, as a Automotive Hydraulic Technician Apprentice 1, or have had equivalent experience in related work or have automotive or related certification from accredited institution.
- Must complete within 12 months: all manufacturer computer-based training as assigned by Fleet Management.
- Must hold IFPS certification.
- Must be IFPS certified prior to promoting from Apprentice 1 position. New hires at Apprentice 2 level or above, must obtain IFPS certification within 6 months of employment.
- Company will pay for 2 certification attempts, and time involved.
- Employee may attempt as many times and as often as they choose at their own expense. Company will reimburse testing cost only for their passing attempt.
- Special consideration may be made for paying additional test attempts over the 3 (management decision).
- New Hires at Apprentice 1 level or above, must obtain a Class A Commercial Drivers License within the first 6 months of employment.
- Must obtain automotive HVAC certification within 12 months through EPA approved source such as ASE or MACS.
- Will be required to complete manufacture bucket, digger and PDM training as classrooms are available.
C. PHYSICAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be willing and able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must meet all equipment weight qualifications.
- Ability to climb up and down trucks, ladders, equipment.
- Ability to pick up 50+ lbs.
D. PERSONAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Meet all personal qualifications for Apprentice 1 Tech position.
AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN Must be qualified to:
- Find and use diagnostic tools and schematics to identify and correct issues with electronic systems, engine, transmission, and aerial systems on all Entergy owned, leased, or rented equipment.
- Possess high automotive electrical knowledge and Expert use of DVOM for all vehicle and equipment diagnostic purposes.
B. EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must meet all qualifications, experience, and special qualifications for Automotive Hydraulic Technician Apprentice 2.
- Must have worked at least 2 years and qualified as an Automotive Hydraulic Technician Apprentice 2 or have had equivalent experience in related work or have automotive or related certification from accredited institution.
- Complete understanding of automotive electrical and DVOM usage.
- Ability to find and understand electrical schematics; test and diagnose sensors, switches, and other circuit components.
- Advanced understanding of internal combustion engines and emission control systems.
- Advanced hydraulic understanding. Ability to research and understand hydraulic schematics.
- Will be required to complete manufacture bucket, digger and PDM training as classrooms are available.
