Scope Of ResponsibilityThe incumbent performs highly skilled and highly technical work involving installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment.
Essential Duties- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and facilities.
- Diagnose, test, disassemble, inspect, repair, and re‑assemble plant equipment or components such as hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, hydraulic shear, vacuum equipment, roller levelers, cranes, and more.
- Conduct skilled troubleshooting and servicing of pneumatic and hydraulic components.
- Replace and adjust mechanical clutches, drive trains, and related components.
- Repair worn parts, straighten and fabricate fixtures through welding, cutting, brazing, and surface hardening applications.
- Assist junior personnel and operators with equipment repairs.
- Perform major and general repairs on all equipment.
- Record labor and material used on each repair.
- Maintain proper care and use of test equipment.
- Operate lift equipment (cranes, booms, man lifts, cherry pickers, etc.) safely.
- Communicate effectively regarding job responsibilities.
- Handle production coverage during irregular hours with minimal supervision.
- Report all abnormal conditions and safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Perform housekeeping and other routine tasks as directed.
- Follow safe working practices, including Lockout/Tag out procedures and other safety protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular and on‑time attendance.
- Work the scheduled shift.
- Cooperate with coworkers.
At least three years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills & Abilities- Regular and timely attendance is required.
- Knowledge of basic shop mathematics: addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication, and decimals.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to read and comprehend basic hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural schematics.
- Ability to convert inches to metric units.
- Ability to use gauging equipment from .001″ up, including dial indicators, micrometers, and feeler gauges.
- Experience handling gearboxes on top of machines, changing brakes, and motors on cranes.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and handling materials.
- Must work in an outside manufacturing environment for long shifts, including weekends.
- Position requires manual dexterity, arm‑hand steadiness, and a safety‑minded attitude.
- Must be comfortable working in awkward and/or confined positions.
