Job Description PURPOSE AND SCOPE:The HVAC Technician III is responsible for monitoring, planning & maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across campus facilities. The role involves ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for students, faculty, and staff by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing issues, and making necessary repairs.
This role works collaboratively across LSC campuses on special projects, recommend process improvement, and implement best practices in standard operating procedures (SOPs) across functional units.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Must be capable of performing labor-intensive work associated with facilities maintenance
- Must be capable of safely operating powered equipment such a selectrical tools and equipment, voltage meters, testing equipment, saws drills, and be able to determine which equipment to use for a particular purpose
- Must have knowledge of and ability to follow building codes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and diagnostic tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with staff, vendors, and contractors
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects and/or equipment
- Comfortable working at heights of up to 50 feet, including on ladders, scaffolding, or elevated platforms
- Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and convey detailed instructions accurately and clearly
- Proficient in tasks that involve the use of hands and fingers, such as gripping, manipulating tools, or operating equipment
- Position requires the ability to be on 24-hour emergency callout
- Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and crawl spaces
